Have you ever thought about who might speak for you if you couldn’t speak for yourself?
If so, do those people know what you would want, if you were to have a sudden accident or illness? Having this conversation and getting an Advance Directive in place is one of the biggest gifts you can give your family. This is something everyone 18 and up should have in case of emergency. Southwest Michigan’s program Speak for Yourself, Plan Your Care offers tools and resources to help you get a good plan in place and to communicate that plan to your loved ones.
If you’d like to have a guided conversation at your own pace, use our virtual walk through below:
Getting everyone on the same page, even if they don’t agree, saves the people who love you guilt, doubt, worry and conflict at a time that is already difficult. It allows them to be your voice in a crisis, ensuring you get the care that is right for you.
